( It's not a set up per say, but Luffy doesn't have the most honest intentions as he finds some seating to lounge on as he waits for Nami to show at the café drip. Luffy often reads what his friends put on the network when he can, and these days he can almost feel the stress dripping from the words as he watches Nami, and to some degree Sanji, fighting with others.
He worries. There is little to distract Luffy in a manor like this and so he worries for his friends and with too much time on his hands he's already decided on having a talk about it. )

( she does sense something, though whether that's her own defensiveness post-network nightmare speaking is more an issue of probability. ultimately, nami does feel a little abandoned by everyone she knows, through no real fault of their own or by anything they've done, but just because she doesn't feel worth the friendship everyone's given her thus far, when it results in issues like that. inevitably — she just doesn't want to be alone, which is why she shows up, despite her reservations. if you can count on luffy for one thing, it's that he'll be happy to see you.

But as she speaks he watches careful, catching the unhappy smile and feeling his heart hurt at the sight of it. Whatever it all is, even he knows there won't be a quick fix to it and Luffy lifts Nami's hand a little as he brushes the pad of a thumb softly over her knuckles. )

( there’s a slightly pitting smile, as if luffy is precious for how much he doesn’t understand. not that nami has ever been particularly forthcoming about her feelings, but she’s fairly sure everyone, even sanji, understands when she’s upset. she’s about as subtle as a house on fire. )

( she leans into him, feeling a little dumb. she doesn’t need a hug — she’s over it, all her hurt feelings packaged away in sealed boxes, ready to never be looked at again. however, luffy gives the best hugs, hugs good enough to have her squashing her eyes together, fending off tears. nami is aware enough to know she and sanji are That couple, the one that breaks up one month and is back together the next, because sanji acts constantly like nothing even affects him, and nami doesn’t know how to empty her heart of him. the crew is probably sick of them — she knows zoro is. must be. luffy too.
